To Tell of Times That Were

This was one of my father’s most used expressions when he was in ‘reminisce mode’. Years later, I find that I too am often in ‘reminisce mode’. On this page  I will highlight some of my posts that refer to traditions that I  experienced and enjoyed when growing up. It’s a kind of Oral History that I hope my grandchildren will read in years to come. Life is constantly changing- the way we did things even five or ten years ago has changed without our noticing. It is good to keep a record so that the memory will not be lost!

Ireland has a rich heritage of traditions, such as Women’s Christmas, Midsummer Fire Festivals,  Pilgrimage as in Reek Sunday,Lenten Traditions etc. From time to time these will feature in the blog with the keyword ‘tradition’as a tag.
