MEVAGH MEMORIES

The Mevagh Cross. An ancient cross dating from c.

Mevagh, also known as Rosguill, was my home parish in County Donegal, Ireland. The parish is on a peninsula in the far north west of Ireland, a place famed for the beauty of the landscape and the friendliness of the people.

This is where I grew up; this is the place where life evolved and lifelong friendships were forged. This is the place where my immediate family lie buried.

It is the place from which I emigrated at the age of 18, not knowing that I would not ever return to live there again. My heart never really left.

It has three villages – Glen, Downings and Carrigart .

I thought it might be interesting to compile some snippets, articles, and reminiscences about the parish and post them here.

This first post, a visual exploration of part of the parish, is from a visit a few years ago
